You can participate in this afternoon program without participating in other sessions of the Open Summer Conference The awakening of the Soul in times of accelleration and transition

1. Visit the Embassy of the Free Mind and join the ‘Old Book’ tour

You will depart by train to Amsterdam as soon as possible on Saturday afternoon. With the group, you can walk from the station to the ”Huis met de Hoofden”, Keizersgracht 123, Amsterdam. There you will visit the museum and a special tour ‘Old Book’ awaits you, where you will see some treasures of the collection that are not visible during a regular visit.

Embark on a journey of discovery through 2,000 years of collected wisdom at the Embassy of the Free Mind, inspired by the images and texts from the collection of the Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica. This collection contains 25,000 books – some often forbidden in the 17th century - and in particular those books that deal with the connection between man, nature and the universe.

2. Visit Haarlem Almshouses during a city walk

You will stay in Haarlem on Saturday afternoon. Under the guidance of a guide, we will take an almshouse walk from 14.00-15.30. With about 20 historic almshouses (courts), Haarlem rightfully carries the designation ‘almshouse city’. You will find a number of 18th-century almshouses that are among the most historic buildings in the city, and also visit the oldest remaining almshouse in the Netherlands, founded in 1395. These hidden oases of tranquility are still inhabited, and can be viewed under certain conditions.

The previously announced group visit to mill “The Adriaen” will not take place, because it is not possible to show exclusive groups around in summer. You can however visit the mill individually.

Our enthusiastic guide will gladly take you to the accessible almshouses and share the most extraordinary stories with you.
