Throughout history all major spiritual teachings have used symbolism to bring the knowledge of the mystery of the soul to man. As the mediator between the human being and Spirit, the soul has always remained central to unlocking the ‘door’ to the path of liberation. What was once hidden in obscure symbolism is unveiled for us, and we gain a greater practical awareness of the soul as a unifying and guiding principle, as a vehicle of transcendence, and as a tool of spiritual action. This book is an invaluable aid to the awareness of the symbolic messages conveyed in many myths, legends, and fairy tales.

Summary

Throughout history, all of the world’s major spiritual teachings have used symbolism to bring the knowledge of the mystery of the soul to man. As the mediator between man and the Spirit, the soul has always remained central to unlocking the ‘door’ to the path of liberation. In this book, the author has brought together many of these diverse references and symbols, to demonstrate the importance the soul has always been given as the key to the genesis of a spiritual path.

In approaching this ‘mystery’, the reader is taken through nine considerations, as a conduit to a fuller and deeper understanding. The soul is discussed from the perspective of unity, duality, connection, development, control, renewal, use, conveyance and action. Thus, much of what was once hidden in obscure symbolism, is unveiled for us, and we gain a greater practical awareness of the soul as a unifying and guiding principle, as a vehicle of transcendence, and as a tool of spiritual action.

From the perspective of the symbolism used throughout history to denote its character and importance, the reader is also introduced to nine aspects that summarise the soul’s many forms of expression. We see the soul represented as a centre; as a tree; as a flame; as a traveller; as a castle; as a creator; as a sevenfold being; as a mirror, and as a world worker. This book therefore can be a valuable aid in opening our awareness to the hidden messages contained in many of the world’s myths, legends, and fairy tales, that have represented the souls’ journey, and which have, up until now appeared only fanciful, yet contained many great truths.
