The Tao Te Ching is said to describe “the way” of liberation, the path to the Source of everything, and the ultimate principles underlying reality and the Universe. 

The simplicity of the “way” of Tao seems to demand refreshingly little from those wishing to become one with the rhythms of the All: Wu Wei, or not-doing, naturalness, simplicity, spontaneity and the three treasures: compassion, moderation, and humility.

Today these most laudable values are as sought as much as they were in the time of Lao Tzu. He says: “To return to the source is called being at peace. To be at peace is called returning to true, eternal life.” But how can we practice wu wei, and attain an eternal state of being? Lao Tzu's call is not simply a call to peace, to return to the Source, to true, eternal life, but to follow the universal path to attaining it - a path accessible to all who long for it.

The objective of the Golden Rosycross is to explain this path of Tao in the context of our times. The Tao Te Ching, the Rosicrucian Alchemical Wedding of Christian Rosycross, the Christian Gospels, and the Hindu Upanishads all describe a process, a threefold transformation of the human being through four stages of consciousness.

This means we need to become directly involved in an inner process, a “way” or path that leads us to inner knowledge of our true purpose as human beings and, therefore, to the essence of life and the Universe. 

As Lao Tzu said: “Knowing others is wisdom; knowing yourself is Enlightenment.”
