The peace that surpasses all understanding

THE PEACE THAT SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING

You probably know the story of the wealthy young man?

We can read this story in the Gospels
and it tells of a man, a wealthy young man,
who addresses Jesus with the question:

`Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?'

And Jesus answered:

`Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone.'

This word is considered as a quote from Hermetic philosophy,

of the Egyptian philosopher Hermes Trismegistus, the thrice great one, the thrice sublime one.

We read in the tenth book of Hermes Trismegistus:

`The Good is exclusively in God, or rather:

God is The Good, in all eternity.'

This word expresses a fundamental human problem,
an almost insoluble question, also for humanity in the year 2018.

This Good is for us, earthlings, an unknowable reality.

Generally speaking, we consider as good what is nice and pleasant for us
or what corresponds to our ideas.

And the opposite we then consider as evil.

Hence it is entirely logical that with regard to this aspect
a chaotic situation has developed here on earth.

In this field of life there are no truly good human beings.

Nor can the Good, the Only-Good, be found in our field of life.

However, it is humanity's task to try and solve its problems as well as possible
in the context of the earthly phenomena of good and evil.

Does this mean that we should push aside everything
concerning good and evil of this world as useless and hopeless?

Hermes Trismegistus says about our struggle with good and evil:

`Thus it is with regard to human goodness and human beauty.

And we can neither escape nor hate them, for the hardest thing of all is
that we need them and cannot live without them.'

A human being who neither loves nor hates human beauty and goodness
nor tries to escape from it, has detached himself from this nature.

Detachment as to this nature is the beginning of the path.

Where is that human being going then?

The human being who is seeking for the truth
returns to the Essence of things, returns to the Only-Good.

Only in God the Good can be found.

And whoever finds God, whoever is going to partake of the Good,
is still in, but at the same time no longer of this world.

Right from the beginning, the Rosicrucians have adopted the point of view:

`Nothing in this world is good.

No one is good, not even one.'

That is why we should become detached.

The Godhead, the mighty, all-fulfilling Godhead, can only touch us with its radiation
in this state of objectivity, in this state of detachment.

Only in that way its radiation fullness can transmit to us
the message of the All in all its purity.

Thus humanity remains fully responsible.

A human being always chooses his own path.

In this context, remember the warning from the holy language:

`Be faithful and trust no one.'

`Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits whether they are of God,'
as John says in two hermetic suggestions.

When you keep to them, no evil will happen to you.

The choice

When you have been touched in your heart and your primordial atom
by the call of the Gnosis, you will be offered a totally new perspective of life.

Then you are standing on the path, as it is sometimes expressed,
that leads to the field of the resurrection, to the Only-Good.

On this path and in this perspective it happens that,
due to this honest striving, you are allowed to cast a look
into the New Realms of True Life.

This results in your living in two worlds,
one world of this nature and the other world of Supernature,
that is the Kingdom of the Christ.

Obviously, dealing with the rules and laws of material nature
remains a constant worry.

You are required, especially when you are striving for liberation,
to pay to a large extent and very consciously attention to material nature,
of which you are part and in which you have to fulfil a task.

That is why you try to follow in your daily life, from hour to hour,
the good advice of Mrs Catharose de Petri,
the grandmaster of the School of the Golden Rosycross, who says:

`When you have to choose, always choose the highest.'

This is a suggestion, a helping hand, with far-reaching consequences,
in a positive and liberating sense, when it is followed.

Every day we make choices, consciously and probably more often unconsciously.

Around this time in January you are expected more than ever,
yes, it is sometimes considered your civil duty, to make the right choice.

Of course, this is a choice of a totally different order than the choice for the highest.

Due to the strongly stimulated activity of his heart,
the human being who is striving for liberation
has developed a great compassion for the suffering of the world.

That is what he would like to solve. His heart is burning.

Goodness, Truth, Justice

The human being who is striving for liberation also understands
that no real solution is possible in this world.

That is why his heart is yearning for true liberation from this fire of life,
not only for himself, but especially for all his fellow human beings.

And he understands what this requires of him.

On the one hand he needs an intense striving for the highest,
the choice for the highest.

On the other such a person is totally available for his fellow human being,
an unconditional: `Here I am'
with regard to alleviating the needs of his fellow human being.

For only in that way the highest, that is Love, can be known.

Only by transforming the Divine Fire of Love into living deed
the striving human being will discover true life.

And then again the words of Hermes Trismegistus resound:

`Thus it is with regard to human goodness and human beauty.

And we can neither escape nor hate them, for the hardest thing of all is
that we need them and cannot live without them.'

Let us confront them with the words of Jesus Christ, which all of you know:

`Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's,
and to God the things that are God's.'

Accept your life in matter and strive for a detached mode of life
on the basis of the new soul.

From the magnetic body of the School of the Rosycross
you receive a wealth of knowledge and power for the realisation of this.

If you let yourself no longer be touched by the vicissitudes of nature,
if you are no longer drowned in the daily struggle for good and evil,
the right choice has already been made.

And hence Jesus Christ's political statement
`Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's,'

is then followed by the flaming word:

`And to God the things that are God's.'

No division of attention and interests,
but one-pointed and totally devoted focused
on the Divine plan with the world and humanity
in the power of Goodness, Truth and Justice.

Peace

One of the most remarkable things in human development
is its unceasing striving for peace.

Until this day it is clear to us that there will be no peace yet for quite some time.

This can be explained by, amongst other things, the systematic balance in dialectics.

Everything that is subject to time, to the effects of good and evil
can simply not be stopped.

That is the reason that everything that is stopped for a longer or shorter period
will be broken up and propelled to change.

The human microcosm is the reduced version of the earth cosmos and the macrocosm.

The human being possesses as one of his four vehicles an astral body.

Through that astral body he is, amongst other things,
linked with his feelings and his karma.

In addition, the human being is nourished by astral forces
from the astral field around the earth,
which in turn is nourished from space and by humanity.

By our willing, thinking, feeling and acting the astral body breathes and reacts.

Daily a human being inhales astral power with his whole being,
corresponding to his or her directedness.

And daily the human being exhales astral forces.

Thus, anger is as it were an astral rocket,
fired at a human being or a group of people,
reaching its goal and causing an astral reaction in it,
a reaction that will almost always be the opposite.

This is the drama of those with good intentions.

Action and reaction generate equilibrium.

Thus a powerful peace movement, which we would like to support as human beings,
can cause a tremendous astral turbulence, ultimately aimed at helping humanity.

But the result of this tremendous astral turmoil is an astral reaction,
followed by a reaction in matter of those who were the target.

Thus, war and peace are insolubly linked.

Isn't there a way-out? Yes, there is:

Another astral directedness on a Light Field not of this earth.

`But seek first the Kingdom of God, and all these things shall be yours as well.'

Focus on the peace that is in God.

Go and stand in the heart of the dialectical balance,
where the silence is and where detachment begins.

There is a Peace of God that surpasses all understanding.

Jesus says: `Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you;
not as the world gives, do I give to you.'

The human being who longs for the highest peace
wants to and will learn from the Universal Teachings
that have been given to humanity and have descended with humanity
in order to be able to show it the way back to the Light.

And to those who truly want it is said:

`What you have thus learned, received, heard and seen: do it!

And the God of Peace will be with you.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called Sons of God.'
